Do You Know What Gets Me Depressed

by depressiondoctor on May 19th, 2007

I start my day with every thing planned as to what do I need to do in terms of my job, I need to get my kids ready for school, have to make the breakfast and drop them off at school, this is how my day starts.

I work through the day till its time to get the kids from school and then I have to cook the lunch and feed them and help them do their homework and fix the house in the meantime. I know I can handle stress, I know I can be patient, I know I can just stand all only if I am being appreciated of all what I do. But to tell you honestly, it does not happen.

I am being criticized for every single thing that I do, I work day in and day out and I see that and hear the only words that “Things are not being done the way they should have been”, do you know what these words create in me, they create in me a feeling of worthlessness, depression, stress. I just feel that I cannot stand any more of this and then another day passes by.

Sometimes I feel that I really can’t go on anymore, but then I compose myself again and I know that I am the only one person on which a lot depends, I have to make the ends meet, I have to work and make sure that everything just falls into the right place, but at the day’s end all I get is being blamed upon that I am not able to work things that way I should. Can you tell me as to how would you feel if you are to be put in my shoes, I know that there could be different answers according to the different individuals, but honestly speaking, it does get one stressed out really bad no matter whichever way you are going to deal with it.

I am living each day at a time and I am just pulling myself up to make sure that I do not get so down that I get ill or I get so stressed or depressed that I am unable to go to work or I am unable to do what I have to do every single day. It just makes me feel really sick and makes me think at times that I am the one who is not right, I am the one who just cannot do things the right way, I am starting to believe of what is being told to me, but then my conscience just gives me the rings that this is not right of what is being told and I am not the one who messes up things and I go through all those feelings because I hear that every single day and sometimes its just enough.

Being a person, I have my own patience, there are times when I crack and there are times when I try to pull myself as much as I can, but still I am person who gets depressed with all the things going on in my life, but I have learnt that I will fight with everything that is going on inside and I will work my best to raise my children with all the values that I have and I am going to make them strong to live with stress if they have to and I believe they will all do great.

My kids are my strength and I gather strength from them every single day and I want to thank them to be so patient and caring and loving to me. I appreciate you kids.

Depression, A State

by depressiondoctor on May 11th, 2007

Depression is generally boxed out a feeling of blue and mostly it is being told by different people as to what it is and what are the different signs and symptoms from which others can detect that the individual is going through depression, but I say that depression is a state of mind and it has a lot to do with the mood swings that we go through every single day.

Have you ever thought that in a day’s time, how many times are there where you go through different mood swings and how many times did you fall in the feelings of depression, have you ever seen that, calculated that on your fingers, I think there might be some people who very closely observe the different changes that they go through in their moods and they are able to ascertain as to how many times they are going through the different feelings.

Depression is just like a cloak, which we wear when it comes on. It can be triggered by anything, anything that we can think of. For example a child can get depressed if he or she did not get the toy that they wanted for their birthday. An employee in a company can get depressed when they were not able to get the pay raise on the due time as outlined by the company. A mother can get depressed when her children are not listening to her and are making a mess of things at home. So there are so many different people in so many different situations who are going through the feelings of depression, which is a state or a cloak that just comes over us and we wear it.

It is natural to get depressed on different things, we should not take it as an ailment, but a natural response of our body. What we need to understand that being in depression can be something that is going to be harmful for our bodies. For example as know in general that anything in excess is going to bring a negative aspect along with it, such as if you are going to eat too much, you will start to gain weight, and there will be hormonal changes that will be brought upon and therefore this needs to be corrected by eating less and exercise.

The same is the case with depression, if you are going to feed your depression then it will grow and will reach the excess point, which is certainly not reasonable. The thing that you need to see is that as you can fix your eating habits, in the same way you can fix your depression. Try to remove the source that is causing depression. See and open your eyes, come out of it and look for yourself how much is out there for you and it is not the time to nurture depression but to get rid of it and learn as to what are the different ways that you can take care of it without having the need ever to take medicines to fix it.

Just remember that we have in our mind and soul the power to eliminate depression, it is when we not explore it, we stay in it, and need the help of the medicines, I am not saying that you should not take medicine, if you feel you need to take the medicines, you must take them, but I am just making you aware that there are ways that you can get out of depression on your own in a positive way by using the strength and power of your mind and soul. I go through mood swings as well and I try to put myself back on track, sometimes it takes me less time and sometimes it takes me more, but I am able to get myself back on track. I think if I can do it, so can you.

Stress And Depression

by depressiondoctor on November 25th, 2006

We all know that our daily lives are filled with stress. We are stressed that we need to get to work in time, we are stressed with the whole lot of responsibilities that we have at work and we want all of them to be done in the best way possible so that the clients are happy and we are able to earn the company a good reputation and in turn would help us earn a better name and reputation in the company. We are stressed that we need to give our family the due time and help the spouse in their daily work so that they are able to manage the work at home.

We are all tied up and the stress just puts us in a place where we feel really depressed and try to find our strength and courage to get out of the clutches of stress and depression, but sometimes we are not able to do that and we are covered in deep with depression.

Have we ever stopped and seen people around us who are really living such lives along with us and how every single person adds stress to the lives of other people. This is just like a domino where one piece falls and it takes the last one down on the other end. It is really sad to know all that as to how we are living our lives these days. Shouldn’t we be living our lives where there is the least stress and there is the least depression if any, shouldn’t we be living our lives where we are happy and are spreading the act of happiness among each other, shouldn’t it be like this.

Why are we so stressed up, I think it is because we are unable to cope with the increasing burden on us and things are becoming more and more tough for all of us with time. Is it what we wanted for us? Are we happy with the lives we are living right now? Do you know what is happening to us, we are being taken away from our lives, we just roll on with the things of our day to day life and that is what is our norm, and we worry for the bills that we need to pay, we worry for the money that we are earning, we are worried on the credit money that we need to return, we worry if our house is fixed, we worry so much and this just makes us stressed and just makes us depressed so as to not making up the ends meet.

Have we asked ourselves as to where all of this is going to take us, it is just going to take us to a point where we will get sick and then everything will just turn to a disruption of the everyday life and this will just worsen the situation more. We burn ourselves everyday to make the ends meet and still we are unable to do that and that is so sad to know.

We just need to ease our depression off and we need to learn as to how we can make our lives less stressed so that we are able to get most out of our lives and find time to heal our souls rather than we just keep on burning ourselves every single day like we do by worrying and worrying, which just does not help us at all.

So think positive, feel positive and set a path in your life where even you are under severe stress, you must be able to deal with it in the coolest way possible, as it will help you to provide you and your family a positive environment to live your life in. Believe in yourself, you will be able to get yourself out of the miserable situation inside that you are in. Just pray and believe, you will find the way out.

How Depression Affects Teachers

by depressiondoctor on November 6th, 2006

In this fast paced world life is changing so fast, but there is one class or group of people who are living among us, who are constantly working to give the best of themselves to the communities they are living in. The group of people that I am talking about are the teachers that make such an important part of our society and it is they who are going through a lot of depression on a day to day basis.

First of all we need to ask ourselves as to whether we really understand and realize that the teachers of our societies and communities are going through such huge levels of depression. I know it is not right to look into any person’s life because it is their personal thing, but let us all dive in the lives of teachers for a while to see and understand that they are just like any other individual with a huge responsibility, as well as the responsibility of their current lives.

Teaching is a full-time job, which is the first and the foremost fact that we need to understand. In this article we are going to consider women teachers and will discuss on their life patterns that they go through every single day. When a teacher comes to a school, they need to be prepared in terms of what they are going to teach their students the next day. They go through the subject matter, read and make notes so that they are able to explain their students in detail regarding the different concepts and they have to design the different tests and have to monitor each and every child individually and make reports and communicate to the parents about how their children are doing.

I am just into explaining as to what the teachers have to do on a day to day basis, I might be missing a few things, but I believe that their job is a job filled with a lot of responsibilities and it is they on whose shoulders the future of a nation depends. This routine that is being discussed is what they have to do in the school and we can see that they have their own family lives and how stressed they are getting with this routine that they have to go through every single day.

Now when the school time is over, the teachers then come home, now they need to cook food, clean the house, help their children to finish the homework, do the dishes, bathe the children, attend the children from time to time to attend to their needs, keep the children calm, cook dinner, and prepare for the next day at school where they need to go through the books as to what are the different things they would be teaching their students and making notes of the important points and then when the kids go to bed, it is then the time for them to sleep so that they can have enough sleep.

These rigid routines in a teacher’s life can cause them to suffer from depression and make them feel really bad inside and it is our duty to encourage them and appreciate as to what they are doing. Believe me, teaching is not an easy job, it takes a lot of nerves to put discipline into children and teach them the values and knowledge. This is a very respectable profession and as a society we need to support them with everything that we can.

Do We Feel Each Other

by depressiondoctor on November 5th, 2006

Have we ever asked ourselves the question as to how we feel and how we make each other feel around us? I think we feel different at different times and there are very less times when we are feeling really good. We are mostly in a real stressed out feeling and we feel that we are being burdened so much about so many different responsibilities and things that are on us.

What happens when we are in a stressed out situation, we just pass on the stress to others and that is how things go. I think we are slowly and gradually turning into zombies where we are just living a life to achieve certain goals and that is all and while achieving those goals, which can be the duties that we have to perform in a day we are so tensed up that we start to pass on the same feelings to others and make them stressed too and they then pass on their stress to others.

Do we know as to where it is going to lead all of us, it is just going to lead us in a world that is filled with pain and misery, where there is no happiness, no fun, no pleasures in life, but just a constant feeling of stress and that is all.

Let me tell you of an event that I witnessed one day when I was in the bank where the senior employee talked to a senior employee in a very harsh tone and believe me or not that man who was being scorned just went into tears. It was then I started to think as to why this senior guy never cared for as to whether this is the right way to talk to his junior in such an environment where there are a lot of people around, did that senior feel for a moment as to what that guy would be going through, I think if he would have thought that then he would not have said to what he said and hurt the feelings of that guy. I was really shocked to see as to what happened and that really made me feel hurt.

I do not think that we feel each other, we just care as to how we feel and we do not care as to what are the different feelings and moods the other person goes through every changing minute. This is so strange. Aren’t we humans. I have seen in a lot of animal kingdom movies as to how the different species stay close together, though they have conflicts, but they stick to each other. It is their instincts, where are ours. Are our instincts to hurt people, make them feel bad, not to think about their feelings at all before even saying a word. I think this is really heartless. I think this is the worst part that we can see and feel being humans where people are just degrading the other humans without even giving a single thought. It is so sad and I am ashamed to be a part of a society where people do not care for others.

We see the degradation of humans at all levels starting right from children to the senior citizens, why. Is it right for me to ask my fellow country men as to why we are going through all these things where our sole purpose is to hurt others? I do not want to create any bad feelings inside you, but I believe in what I am saying. I am seeing the world changing so fast, the values are just sinking down, people are changing so fast and this is just leading us to the land of nowhere.

We need to feel each other and we need to pull each other out from the land of depressed and pull them out in the land of happiness and try to make it possible as much as we can. Believe me, we have very little time left in this world and one day we will not be here, so please let us help each other out.

What Gives Rise To Depression

by depressiondoctor on November 3rd, 2006

There are a lot of reasons that can account for the individuals to go through depression and since depression is just like a fire slowly eating out the people on the inside, we need to help and support these people who are suffering from them.

The reasons that can cause the development of depression include genetics, environmental factors, medical conditions, the crunching situations in life, financial worries, etc. There are a lot of other problems that are there that contribute to the development of depression and can be explored if a proper history of that individual is being taken.

It is a widely accepted fact that most of the qualities are being inherited from the genetic makeup that is being passed on from generation to generation and so is depression, but it is not necessary that the individuals who are going through depression definitely have that genetic makeup that accounts for their depression.

A major event or situation that causes people to go through depression includes the death of a close family member or a very close friend, which is a severe shock that an individual goes through and ultimately leads an individual to go through a severe depressive episode.

The environment of a home in which a family lives is a very important factor that can cause severe stress in the family members and if that stressed environment continues to gone, then it will not only put the adults in a state of severe depression, it will also cause the children to be under severe stress. This environment needs to be corrected as soon as possible because if it is not corrected then the children will be the major victim of such.

There are a lot of social conditions that have a very deep impact on our lives such as poverty, people who do not have any homes, who cannot afford for their medicines, people who are subjected to violence on a daily basis. There are a lot of people who are also going through a lot of other social situations where they suffer the bitter things and are greatly depressed. These are the people who need our attention and we need to care for them and help them with whatever resources we can.

Drug abuse is also a very major cause of depression. Alcohol and specific drugs causes chemical changes in the brain and thus result in the depressant effects. There are also medical conditions that causes chemical changes in brain that results in depression and when these medical conditions are treated or when the individual stops using the alcohol and drugs, the depression is usually relieved and the person returns back to their normal self.

Symptoms Of Depression In Ill Elderly

by depressiondoctor on September 3rd, 2006

Depression is not limited to a specific age, gender, class or group and it does not know of any boundaries and is something that is widespread throughout the world. A group of people who are really affected by it are the elderly. Depression in the elderly coexists with the different disease processes that they are going through and the situation becomes worse and worse if their clinical condition just does not come under control.

There are a lot of different health problems that the elderly people are going through such as diabetes, chronic hypertension, back problems, joints aches and pains, cardiovascular problems, problems of the gastrointestinal tract such as constipation, diarrhea, polyps or masses in the colon, prostatic problems, etc. and all these problems just cause a lot of trouble that the elderly have to go through.

The one thing that we all really need to understand is that the depression in the elderly is an ongoing thing because the status of their disease process is chronic and they suffer from pain on a constant basis. They need a constant level of care and supervision in order to help them perform their activities of daily living. These illnesses just put these elderly people into a lot of negative thinking and they then fall deep into the color of depression.

According to a recent report, the rate of suicide is double in the elderly white in America in the ages of 80-84, which is more than twice of the general population. Depression in people who are at the age of 65 is considered to be a pretty major health problem according to the National Institute of Mental Health.

Depression in the elderly just worsens their healing process and the problems that they are suffering from just lingers on and just takes away from them the will to live. It is so sad to know all this that the elderly people in our community are going through these problems and what is being done about it. Do we realize that we are going to be elderly individuals in a matter of years and as this article is being written there is a giant block of people who are reaching into their elderly ages.

Are these people who are being moving on to be in the elderly group are going to suffer and go through the same things, if the answer is a yes, then we should know that we are the next ones in the line, and if we see that there are things that can be done to help prevent the elderly from going into depression or to help them out from getting into that state, then we can say that we do have a chance to live a better life in our later years.

We should contribute our best to help our senior citizens and help them maintain their activities of daily living and help them being alive inside themselves and prevent them from shutting themselves out. I believe that we can give a part of our time to the elderly people and therefore we will be able to contribute a greater value to our system to make it much better, may be tomorrow someone is going to think the same about us and we will have better times when we cannot do much for ourselves.

Depression And Support Groups

by depressiondoctor on August 8th, 2006

Depression is a state that just causes an individual to go in isolation. Going in isolation is not a desirable thing because if an individual just starts to be in isolation then they will be thinking a lot of things that they should not be thinking such as putting in negative thoughts in their minds, pushing themselves really bad, kicking themselves inside telling them how bad they are and how unlucky they are in several things and what is the purpose of their life etc.

All these thoughts are going to pour in more negative thoughts and slowly and gradually they will be falling in a pit where they will find themselves totally alone and it will be life that is a living hell for them and this will just be a misery living such. There are times when the individuals going through depression do not allow other individuals to look inside them, talk to them, and then their mind just races in different directions.

The best help for the people who are suffering from depression is to help them to be open so that they are able to express as to how hat are they feeling and what are the different thoughts that are racing through their mind. If these individuals are not interested in talking with the close ones, then they should be told about the support groups where there are different people going through different situations and these people sit together as a group and discuss as to what were the reasons they were going through their feelings and what helped them to get out of them.

These support groups offer a great help and provide the individuals going through depression with courage and strength so that they are able to share their feelings and are able to see that they are not the only ones who are going through these feelings, but there are a lot of people throughout who are suffering from depressed feelings and they have found a way to come out of them and live a happy and a healthy life.

These support groups have given the life back to a lot of individuals who were suffering from depression and see things brighter and livelier. If you are an individual who finds a friend, a loved one going through a phase of depression, and they do not want to share their feelings with anyone, you can share with them as to what are the support groups and in what way these have helped different people gaining their life back. I believe your efforts will result in a better output and you will be able to help them in the best way possible.

You Can Beat Depression

by depressiondoctor on July 25th, 2006

As a characteristic of night, it just covers the day like a blanket and then slowly and gradually there is dark all around. Just like that, the depression just creeps on slowly and gradually and takes over an individual’s life and then leave them in a dark corner inside them.

As a very common thing seen in individuals, there are different states that take over us, and then we fight with them with all we have, because if we do not fight, these feelings just surround us and leave us in a much disrupted state of mind and hurt our insides really bad.

Some people change with those feelings; some people fight and then give up, some people fight until they free themselves from it. It all depends on how much we are under the influence of those feelings and how strongly we want to come out of them. Those people who have the will to come out of it will come out of it and those who give up will not be able to come out of it.

You must know that you have all the strength you need to fight it back and there is no reason why it is going to take over you. Do you know that if it going to take over you, you will not be the same, and you will just jump onto another personality, which the people will find different than who you were.

You definitely do not want to be in the line of the people who give up and have totally changed from what they were; you definitely want to be the one who stands against the odds and the strong winds and find the will inside you that will get you out of the depressed feelings that you are in right now.

Just find yourself a support in the form of a friend who will go through in a discussion with you and will hear you out and will be able to guide you as to what you need to do. Remember that breaking that shell that is trying to close you down is something that you need to break and it will be a slow and steady process and it will need you to be determined and strong.

You can beat your depression creeping onto you and you can do it, I believe that.

Reaction Of People To Depressed

by depressiondoctor on June 20th, 2006

There are people who could feel as to what other people are going through and there are people who do not care as to what others are going through. There is a wide range of differences in human beings who move on in totally opposite directions. It is strange but it is true. There are a lot of people who would care so much and would try to help people in whatever way possible, but on the other hand some people would try to hurt.

Apart from categorization of people into the two major categories, it is important to know that it is not necessary that the people would be able to see as to what the different individuals are going through. When an individual starts to drift from their normal self, this is something that the family members are able to see and spot very quickly, but there are times when the parents and siblings are unable to see the change coming across.

When the parents and the loved ones find that the individual is going through the depressed feeling, they will try to comfort the individual with the love and kindness and support them in hopes that their bad feelings and the sadness that is making them feel so bad inside just passes and they are able to be their normal self. The loved ones try to talk out things to know the source of these feelings and to determine as to what can be done to overcome these feelings. It must be known that you being the loved one is unable to get the bad feelings out, then you must advice them to seek the help of a professional.

There are some individuals who do not really understand as to what is really going through in the lives of the individuals who are going through depression and they think that they are just going through a lazy period in their life. These people just scold the individual who is going through depression and will make them feel worse and will criticize them to the point that they can take a very wrong step in their lives. Therefore it is really very important to be very careful in the way we treat the individuals who are going through depression.

We need to be very polite when we determine that the individual is going through depression. It is going to be good when you are able to persuade the individual to talk and share their feelings and if the condition is extreme just talk them into see a doctor who will be able to prescribe the medications and explain them the different signs and symptoms to them that should be on the look out for.
