Paranoia

Description

Paranoia is to do with people’s minds and people that have paranoia believe that others are plotting or planning against them. People that have paranoia think this but it is usually not based on facts and they can the start to fear other people because of their paranoia. People who suffer from this mental disorder can feel rather switched off from the outside world and will need to learn how to trust other people and not start to fear them. There are cures for paranoia and people who feel that they have this mental illness should seek the right advice straight away.

Symptoms

The symptoms of paranoia are always based on the same feelings felt by all the people. Thankfully this then enables doctors or psychiatric doctors to diagnose the patient if they are showing the same symptoms that occur in all patients that have been diagnosed with paranoia. The main symptoms that doctors and psychiatric doctors will look out for will be mistrust of other people, possibly including the doctor as well. Also being stubborn and a perfectionist are also signs of potential paranoia. If just a few of the symptoms are apparent in someone then is does not mean that they are suffering from paranoia. There are a lot of symptoms and a lot of other potential possibilities that the doctor has to take into consideration when they are dealing with a potential paranoia victim. A wrong diagnosis can lead to all sorts of problems for the patient and that is why a full examination of the patient’s mind is needed to ensure that a correct diagnosis is made.

Cause

The cause of paranoia is usually down to one thing and that is a breakdown in the patients mind. The patient will have a breakdown of various mental and also emotional functions. But it is the reason for these breakdowns that are unclear, they might be due to repressed memories but no one is entirely sure. There are also cases of paranoia arising through delusional thoughts that can occur in people’s minds, this can happen through an accident or even a misunderstanding some people have also experienced a sense of paranoia through a higher responsibility that they have been given. The causes of paranoia are varied and somewhat unclear. The treatment process however can be much easier to achieve, not many people understand the reasons that paranoia can occur in a person. But once they have been correctly diagnosed then they can start getting back to normal through the correct treatment that their doctor or psychiatric doctor can offer. Some patients might be unwilling to receive this kind of help but if they want to get back to normal then they have to understand that the people around them want to help them and not further increase their depression.

Treatment

As described before there are treatments available for people that suffer paranoia. But some people with paranoia have been reluctant to use this kind of treatment because they feel that they are not paranoid. For the people that do want the help then they will more then likely need to attend a few behavior therapy lessons until the doctor says that they are ok to return back home. While in these behavior therapy lessons they will try to reduce the patients sensitivity to criticism from other people. To try and first help a patient with paranoia the doctor must try to break the suspicion that is always in the patients mind. They will do this by using relaxing techniques and they will try to stop the patient from using certain behaviors towards people, this can be a long process but it is a process that does yield positive results for all people.

Summary

Paranoia is a mind state that a lot of people do experience when they have an emotional breakdown. They start to feel suspicious towards other people and that then results in them feeling angry towards other people. Paranoia is thankfully treatable, but it is a long process for many people because the doctor has to in effect go into the patients mind and help them relax more. The doctor has to first do the impossible by getting the patient to trust them and that can be very hard for any doctor to get from a paranoid patient.
