Individuality and Personality - type and trait approaches

Description

Individuality and Personality makes up who we are as people. If we weren’t all different in some way then what kind of world would we live in? It is important to know that everyone on this planet is different you cannot change that fact. We all have our different personalities and that is what makes us different, some people are more cautious and laid back, while others are spontaneous and like to live life on the edge. However these can be mixed up slightly to create a laid back person who is still spontaneous. Different people act differently to their surroundings. This makes us all unique as individuals. There are over 6 billion people on this planet and it seems that no two are ever the same.

Understanding

We all have different ways of understanding people and their personalities. Some people cannot get along with people that have the same personality as them and that is a shame. But to understand people’s personalities you have to see the basic types of personalities. For example an out-going person etc. However there are also personality traits these include flexibility, hostility and even moodiness. All these personality types and traits can determine what type of person we are also they can determine what we do in certain situations. If we are with a new group of people then we will all react differently, if we were all the same then we would just be robots. It can be sometimes hard to judge someone’s personality just by looking at them. You have to spend a lot of time with them and ask them certain questions if you really want to know their personality. But there is also the fact that if you are a new person then they might be a bit shy towards you and then after a while they will open up a lot more. Then we can learn about their individuality and personality.

Importance

It is important to be different from other people that way it then seems that other people can evaluate one another. There are psychiatrists that help some people out when their individuality and personality takes a small turn for the worst. They can then evaluate what this person is like and then see if they can help them out. The way we react to psychiatric help is due to our own personality and also when we are told that we might need psychiatric help then our personality will tell us how to react. Some people will be ok with the advice, while others might fly off the handle and demand to know why they are being referred to a psychiatrist, all these little things can tell us about a person. Also there are little personality tests that can help to determine what kind of person we are. Of course these are just small tests and should not be taken too seriously.

Personality Traits

These personality traits are our own ways of behaving when we are frustrated. There are people that will react by also being frustrated and taking out their anger on anything. While others will be more relaxed and maybe they will try to find a positive to the problem and then overcome it by using their brain. Using your own individuality and personality will show people how you can overcome these problems and then you can show that you are different in terms of your individuality and personality. There are people that are placed into the same category in terms of personality and it is said that they are the people who will react the same way as others in that category. It can be true that they will act the same, but they are still different people at heart and their emotions might come into effect.

Summary

People will always react in different ways in different situations, it is part of who we are. We are all able to react differently under different moments of stress or frustration. Our own individuality and personality will show how we do react and you can be sure that they will react differently compared to someone else. There are different groups of people that others feel will react the same this I feel is wrong because while these people do react the same they are also intended to change their moods and reactions. Over time they grow and so will their own personalities.

Depression Quote
In moments of discouragement, defeat, or even despair, there are always certain things to cling to. Little things usually: remembered laughter, the face of a sleeping child, a tree in the wind—in fact, any reminder of something deeply felt or dearly loved. No man is so poor as not to have many of these small candles. When they are lighted, darkness goes away—and a touch of wonder remains. - 'These Small Candles' ...tombstone inscription in Britain

Depression Quote
Whenever someone sorrows, I do not say, 'forget it,' or 'it will pass,' or 'it could be worse' -- all of which deny the integrity of the painful experience. But I say, to the contrary, 'It is worse than you may allow yourself to think. Delve into the depth. Stay with the feeling. Think of it as a precious source of knowledge and guidance. Then and only then will you be ready to face it and be transformed in the process. - Peter Koestenbaum
