Flupentixol: Drug Information, Side Effects and Precautions

It is an antipsychotic medication used to treat schizophrenia, and/or depression. A higher dose is given to the schizophrenia patients than is given to the lower-dosed patients. This medication is different than other ones used for depression patients, in that the patient will feel the effects of it in two to three days.

How to Take Flupentixol

Medication can be taken with or without food, and as the doctor prescribed. This medication should never be stopped abruptly, and the use of it should be monitored periodically by a mental health professional.

In Case of Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of this medication you will need to take a new one to make up for the one you missed. You should never take a double dose to make up for the one that you had missed.

Precautions for Flupentixol Users

In addition, you will need to be aware that this medication should not be taken during pregnancy. Breastfeeding while on Flupentixol is also not recommended.

You need to inform your doctor about any condition you have no matter how small it may seem to you.
